The blog will pick a word of the week, to share & explore the selected word. Here’s an expression for the word – emotion. Defined as a strong feeling deriving from one’s circumstances, moods, experiences, expectations or relationships. An instinctive or intuitive feeling as distinguished from reasoning or knowledge. The word ’emotion’ was coined in the 1800s by Thomas Brown. “The best & the most beautiful things in our world must be felt with the heart” – Helen Keller. Our emotions make us human, the driving force of our life.
People who believe in their vulnerability are whole-hearted. Is whole-hearted another word for happy? Not always. It just means engaging from a place of truthfulness & worthiness. We can choose to be self-critical, perfectionistic, competitive or truly embrace our emotions, passion & playfulness. We can be comfortable with who we truly are, not who we’re expected to be. It’s believing that we’re worthy & deserving, no matter what the challenges are. Emotional vulnerability brings deeper connections, increased self-awareness, better communication & greater resilience. While it can be scary to be vulnerable, the benefits of embracing it far outweigh the risks.
Sometimes, we may get tired of proving, pleasing, perfecting, pretending & performing. Vulnerability encourages self-reflection, helps us understand our own emotions & motivations. Emotional vulnerability isn’t a weakness, it’s a real strength. It’s explicitly getting over our fears of uncertainty or failure with creativity, courage & compassion. Overcoming the fear of vulnerability allows us to grow emotionally, to move towards a more authentic, joyful & fulfilling life. What makes us vulnerable, makes us unique & beautiful.
