A peaceful sleep is one of the most important things we need for good health. A few suggestions on how we can improve our natural sleep patterns.
Few herbal teas have relaxing properties to improve sleep. Here’s a few:
- Lemon Balm – soothes digestive, central nervous systems
- Valerian – a mild, natural tranquilliser
- Hops flower and camomile – calming and soothing effect
Lavender essential oil can be applied as a few drop to our temples or feet for fast circulation in our body. A few sprinkles to our pillow helps with harmony.
Warm water baths with Epsom salts is refreshing and rejuvenating. Relieves stress.
Hot almond milk is an excellent source of calcium, sparks a pleasant feel.
Cherry juice helps boost sleep up to 90 minutes longer (a recent research).
Magnesium plays a key role in tranquility. Good sources are green leafy vegetables, wheat germ, pumpkin seeds and almonds.
No stimulants 3 hours before sleep – coffee, soda, latte, teas (green, black, white), alcohol. Even no chocolate!
Finally, turn off all screens. It’s tempting to stay up late looking at screens. A simple solution to unwind, a ‘no screen rule’ 3 hours before bed.
