Email: How can I deal with my haters at school, I’m the school captain (15)?
Dear AK,
I was a captain as well, shaken by unprovoked stances of students. Took their opinions as judgements, lacked inner confidence. Learnt to trust intuitions, knowledge and inner strength. Respect your capabilities and mission, with humility.
Be confident and strong in ‘who you are’. Understand perspectives, compassionately. We agree to disagree. As a team leader, you engage with love and patience.
Be mindful, selective about sharing your thoughts, reactions and expectations. Seek out those who positively raise you up and inspire, no negative vibes. Set your energy levels high, with clear desires and ambitions. Let your achievements speak for you.
Avoid asking many opinions to validate your decisions. No-one thinks, feels, knows or acts the way you do. Stay sensitive and firm, no defensiveness or unhappiness.
We classify words as positive or negative. Everything is neutral till we decide to label it. Get to the root of their intentions. They may not want to hurt you. We react hastily, in an effort to protect ourselves. It’s best to think and react politely and appropriately.
To be against something or with the crowd is far easier, than standing up for your own aspirations, authenticity, knowing and purpose. Believe in you, your truth and vision.
Finally, seek guidance, support from parents, teachers and school counsellors.
Bet you’re really brilliant, incredibly smart and truly awesome 🙂
All the very best and stay in touch.
