Chantilly lace is a handmade bobbin lace, named after the city of Chantilly, in France. These famous silk laces were introduced in the 18th century. Known for its fine ground outlined pattern and abundant detail. Designs depict flowers such as roses and tulips entwined with ribbon bands, all outlined by strands of thick untwisted silk. It’s very delicate, intricate, soft and refined.

Guipure is a French word, which means tape. It’s a bobbin lace, beautifully connects the motifs with bars or plaits rather than net or mesh. Also known as Venetian lace, is one of the most elegant of all lace qualities. The lace is made up of a continuous motif, which creates a denser, more raised pattern than other qualities and contains a floral or geometric design.
