“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. The universe is not outside of you. You are the universe” – Lao Tzu. Look up to the stars with wonder & curiosity. Everything in our universe has a purpose. There are many universes, countless universes, many of them are invisible but some live within us. “Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known” – Carl Sagan

One of the greatest discoveries, one of the greatest surprises is to find that we can do what we were afraid that we couldn’t do. Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will. We succeed because we have failed. Fear is a great motivator. There is no illusion greater than fear.

In every walk with nature, one receives far more than one seeks. Some old-fashioned things like fresh air & sunshine are hard to beat. Nature is the source of all true knowledge. There is something infinitely healing in nature, the assurance that dawn comes after night & spring after winter. Where flowers bloom, so does hope.

“Rest is not idleness. To lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the sea or watching the clouds float across the sky is by no means a waste of time. Nature always seems trying to talk to us as if it has some great secret to tell. A walk in nature walks the soul back home” – Claude Monet

“Why I came here, I know not. Where will I go is useless to inquire – in the midst of the myriads of living worlds, stars, suns & the infinity, why should I be worried about just an atom? The meaning of life is contained in every single expression of life. It is present in the infinity of forms & phenomena that exist in all of creation” – Byron

“Creativeness stems from the love of music. Music is emotion. Music is a perfect expression in its purest form & perfection is infinity. Vivid, vibrant, vulnerable & very transparent. After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music” – Cordae

We are all curious, captivated & puzzled by the infinite, by the endlessness of space & time, by the fact that numbers go on forever & by the idea of an all-knowing, all-powerful divine. Infinite by A. W. Moore takes us on a beautiful journey back to early Greek thought about the infinite, from its inception to Aristotle. Examines the medieval & early modern conceptions of the infinite, including a brief history of the calculus. Gives an account of Cantor’s remarkable discovery that some infinities are bigger than the others. A deep discussion on the topic of human finitude.

Re-examines the infinity ideas of philosophers & delves into the unresolved questions about infinity. The Infinite is an ideal read on this fascinating subject from a philosophical & mathematical point of view.

In Taoist philosophy, Wuji (無極) refers to the primordial, the undifferentiated state of the universe before the manifestation of the Taiji (Yin & Yang), representing a state of emptiness, unlimited potential & limitlessness. Infinity. Wuji is depicted as an empty circle, representing the highest possibility for creation & the absence of form. In English, Wuji means nothingness, a void, stillness or the perfect state of non-being. Wuji first appears in the Tao Te Ching (4th century BCE) in the context of returning to one’s original nature. Wuji is infinite, like our unfathomable universe, the light of the suns & the moons. The start of one is the end of another, the end of one is the start of another. Who knows which came first? The eternity loop.
