Happy Birthday!

Read a beautiful conservation story. In the 70s, this small monkey, found only in Rio de Janeiro state of Brazil was driven to the brink of extinction. A combination of deforestation & pet trade reduced their population to just a few hundred.
Until, 150 zoos joined forces to save this beautiful species. Started a global captive breeding program together with efforts from Brazilian conservationists to protect monkey’s forest homes. Their amazing effort has helped increase the number of wild Golden Lion Tamarins to over 3,500. Imagining a better world…
Music inspired by ‘water’ abounds in classical music. 19-20th century saw a movement of impressionism in music with vibrant, vivid depictions of water.

Ravel – Une Barque. Bold, bright
Williams – Sea Symphony. Stunning, surprising
Smetana – Die Moldau. Deep, desirous
Mussorgsky– Dawn Over Moscow River. Re-energising, refreshing
Wagner – Das Rheingold. Re-invigorating, real
Sebelius – Swan over Tuonela. Terrific, tonal

The New Wilderness by Diane Cook
Living in an overpopulated, polluted metropolis, Bea realises she can’t stay in the city. Joins a group of volunteers to take part in an extreme experiment. The group must settle in the Wilderness State. A huge, untamed expanse of land that has never been inhabited by humans. Dystopian novel The New Wilderness has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize. “At once a blazing lament of our contempt for nature, what it truly means to be human. The New Wilderness is an extraordinary, compelling novel for our times.”

“A picture may be worth a thousand words, but words on a page can capture what an infinite number of photos cannot. Not merely a still image, but the living, breathing soul of a place.”
Wilderness Speaks offers a glimpse beyond the words. Takes us deeper into Stillman’s wanderings, a photographic journey to the heart of Earth.
Carefully selected quotes provide a meditative backdrop, inviting us to experience innocent playfulness, peace in the wilderness. “It’s not just her beauty I wish to capture, but her message. Her very reason for existence.” A beautiful dedication to our planet.
