Flow

The blog will pick a word of the week, to share & explore the selected word. Here’s an expression for the word – flow. Defined as being in the zone, a mental state in which we are fully immersed in a feeling of energised focus, fluidity, creativity & joy. An experience of effortlessness & limitlessness.

In essence, the philosophy of flow is about finding peace, joy & fulfilment in the process of living, rather than solely focusing on achieving external goals. It’s about embracing the now & finding intrinsic motivation which can lead to greater purpose, creativity, happiness & satisfaction. Flow builds belief, compassion & resilience as it involves being fully present in the moment. The beautiful, mindful philosophy of flow can be found in Eastern traditions like the Zen Buddhism of Japan, Wu Wei of Taoism in China & the Indian concept of Samyama.

“Where energy flows, whatever you’re focusing on grows. Success like happiness cannot be pursued. It must ensue as the unintended side effect of one’s personal dedication to a course greater than oneself. A frequently mentioned dimension of flow is that while it lasts, one is able to let go of the challenging aspects of life to experience inner harmony & beauty in the moment”- Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
