Mountains

The blog will pick a word of the week, to share & explore the selected word. Here’s an expression for the word – mountains. “It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves” – Sir Edmund Hillary.

Mountains. They always capture our intrigue, imagination & awe. Majestic. Mountains naturally command respect for their gorgeousness, glory & greatness. From the top, we can see beautiful, vibrant stretches of natural landscapes & amazing diversity. Both tranquil & tantalising. Mountains symbolise beauty, vision, resilience, an ability to rise above, to see beyond the immediate. Inspire us to be grateful, to witness life from unique perspectives, to see the bigger picture, to pursue our passion, to overcome challenges, to move forward with faith. “Great things happen when then men & mountains meet” – William Blake.

Even from a distance, the magnificent mountains remind us of how humble we are as compared to our infinite universe, which comes as a wonderful & welcome relief. Their presence points out that it is okay to feel a little vulnerable, to just be. As they rise up from the earth to disappear in the clouds, they appear ethereal. Surreal & spiritual.

As we climb, their enigmatic energy is undeniably delightful & enthralling. Magical, misty blue glacial lakes are just heavenly. Their marvellous waterfalls, mighty rivers flow effortlessly to connect us with a higher source of understanding, the love of nature, joy & compassion. I always return from the mountains feeling rejuvenated, hopeful & enthused with creative ideas. My second home. “The mountains are calling & I must go” – John Muir.
