Wildlife matters…

Email: Work in wildlife conservation for 20 years. Disappointed. (Kenya)

Empathetic, can feel like fighting an uphill battle. Adversaries too powerful? Efforts too little? Opposing forces – profit focussed businesses, oil industry, climate crisis, intensive agriculture, many faceless challenges. Managing a reserve, campaigning for new laws, teaching kids about nature can feel like trying to stem an incoming high tide. Today, conservation largely lives off small charitable donations before restorative actions can get off the ground.

Though, persistent, passionate, patient efforts are certainly needed to engage with large-scale environment issues. Optimism, belief helps. Share optimistic stories to educate, erradicate, empower. Expectations of positive outcomes is a key motivator. Believe we can make a difference – volunteers, activists, campaigners, nature lovers, donors. Let’s bring hopefulness, playfulness by celebrating little successes. Need everyone on board…
