Desert ghost…

Watched a documentary on Sonoran Pronghorn or ‘desert ghost‘ named for elusive ways, speed native to Sonoran Desert of US, Mexico.

Fastest land mammal in North America with top speed of 60 miles per hour! Especially adapted for survival in harsh arid conditions that characterise as home – desert washes, arroyos, grassland steppe, creosote scrub bajadas.

Critically endangered by overhunting, livestock grazing, critical water sources. Roadway’s, fencing, remote housing development, competition with cattle, human recreation, mining disturbances, changing climate are significant threats to this beautiful species.

Hope timely, effective awareness, conservation actions can save the ‘desert ghost‘.
