Barks…

A quiet, tranquil lake-side, rainforest walk to start the day. Many thoughts went floating by like tiny paper boats. Like a tree, our growth depends on abilities to soften, loosen, shed barks of defences, when needed.

Trees grow through branches, down through roots into earth. As they do, shed barks that once served to protect, but no longer big enough to stimulate expansion. In the same way through phases of life, we develop defences to protect selves. Then, at some point, outgrow shields to expand, reach our full potential.

Trees need protective barks to enable delicate processes of growth, renewal without threats. Likewise, we do need natural defences for more vulnerable parts of selves to sensitively, safely heal, build, unfold. Leverages abilities to soften, loosen, shed unnecessary defences. Often in life – systems, life-styles or structures we knowingly or unknowingly create to help us grow, may eventually become restrictive, self-defeating.

Unlike a tree, we consciously decide when it’s time to shed our barks, expand our horizons for stages of development. Many philosophical teachers suggest each time we genuinely imagine, visualise, sub-consciously shed layers of defensiveness. Flow, align with our higher selves – purpose, abundance.

While it’s essential to set some sort of protective barriers, it’s equally important to soften, release at right time. In doing so, create renewed awareness, energetic spaces for new phases of evolution – basic law of nature.

1st impressions of situations are often reflective of insightful wisdom, a source of knowledge more powerful than reason alone. Today, curiously, compassionately questioning my own perspectives, ideas, defences! Clearest way into inner universe is through a forest wilderness – a true sanctuary!
