BREAK dance – an athletic style of street dance. Diverse in variations, break-dancing has 4 movements – top-rock, down-rock, power-moves, freezes. Set to songs with drum breaks in hip-hop, funk, soul, break-beat music. A break-dancer is called b-boy, b-girl, breaker

Created by African American, Puerto Rican youth in 1970’s. Early dancers were 1st Generation B-boys called Trixie (Lauree Myers, Dancing Doug, Douglas Colon, A1 B-boy Sasa, Legendary Smith Twins, Clark Kent). Groups like Zulu Kings.
