Email: Get carried away in family conversations. What to do? (US)
Sometimes, me too! Especially in conversations with close ones. Happens because such conversations potentially range from stimulating, charged to totally unpredictable. Friendly debates with others is exciting, brings bursts of new ideas, visions, wisdom. Also, understand communication styles of others. Some feel better with words, others with body language, sensations, touch.
Breathing calmly while interacting keeps us grounded, centred during communications. When we feel flustered, excited while speaking, just take a few seconds, place feet firmly into ground, feel our natural connection to earth. Mostly, I walk barefoot at home, even in the office. Quiets our minds to remain composed, safe, slow, steady. Energy’s infused with passion but it won’t be volatile. Take short pauses to re-assess, re-align, re-fresh.
When we’re really excited by an event, idea it’s normal emotions, sentiments lead the way. Grounding selves though allows us to express with humility, enthusiasm, keeping others perspectives, needs, feelings in mind. Interactions are much more real, honest, healthy, fun, inspiring. All we need is speak with greater conscientiousness, compassion.
Always trying to polish communication skills (verbal, non-verbal). So helpful…
