Today, a rush of reflective reviews – everything that influences beliefs. Recognised some things learnt or brought up to believe are actually irrelevant, quite limiting in present. Explored historical theories, ideas, superstitions. Unclear, unquestioned.
Making a list of beliefs that tend to slow or limit our potential, helps see underlying principles that affects our lives. Considered where these beliefs came from? Weren’t necessarily my own! Humbly challenged thoughts that controlled mind, heart, spirit.
Questioning our biases makes us open to new, creative, encouraging, stimulating ways of thinking. Often, it’s not enough to just wish to evolve, adapt, modify or change some of our beliefs. We have to actively assess their worth, validity, need, impact – cost vs benefit.
Simple acts of inquisitive inquiry lets us dive into what we really hold as real, to be true? So often, what we think is part of our belief system, in fact comes from environments, upbringing, cultural traditions, experiences shared by others, even our own in the past.
Good to know what’s applicable now, meaningfully holds ground in current scenarios, dreams, aspirations. More curious, receptive to find greater wisdom, see bigger picture.
Also, with an open, sensitive mind we respect, accept other beliefs without judgments. Keen to engage in curious chats, seek common points in our beliefs. A beautiful blended understanding that bridges all gaps.
