Need to win…

Email: Always want to win, driven at work. (Malaysia)

Need to win can sometimes be a driving force in our lives, compels to act assertively. Perhaps we think by competing with others we will feel better about selves. However, understanding we gain much more through co-operation than competition brings immense benefits.

Should we notice a desire to be better than others arise, we can ask selves how we might succeed if we decided to work with people rather than against them? We used all power, determination struggling with others to achieve our goals. Seeing competition in this light helps us realise there could be better, balanced ways to succeed.

Collaborating with others allows us to achieve much more in life. Sometimes, our desire to succeed is so strong, we forget to care about other people or feel ramifications of our actions. End up alienating others who become less willing to help, accommodate us.

Relinquishing our need to be the best, humbles us enough to realise we get more done with generous help of others. That’s true success. A great leader isn’t one with many followers, it’s how many followers have now become leaders, in their own right.
