La Scala

One of the world’s most famous opera house, Milan’s La Scala was built in 1778, by Italian neo-classical architect Giuseppe Piermarini. Debuted with Antonio Salieri’s 2 act opera L’Europa Riconosciuta.

La Scala has hosted performances by luminary talents, conductor Claudio Abbado and opera star Maria Callas. La Scala Museum pays homage to opera house’s rich history with it’s exhibitions of costumes, musical instruments, photographs, set designs. Livia Simoni Library is home to 150,000 volumes of librettos, scores, periodicals.

Always left mesmerised after opera performances.
