Chilka Lake

Chilka Lake is a scenic, bewitching brackish water lagoon in Orissa (east coast of India), at the mouth of the Daya River, flowing into the Bay of Bengal Sea. The largest coastal lagoon in India & the second largest in our world, after the New Caledonian Barrier Reef. Wonderful wintering ground for amazing migratory birds, home to threatened species of plants, birds & animals. Hosts over 200 species of birds from the Caspian Sea, Lake Baikal, Aral Sea, remote Russia, Kirghiz steppes of Mongolia, Southeast Asia & the Himalayas. Birds travel great distances (up to 12,000 kms) to reach Chilika Lake.

Totally mesmerising natural beauty. Nature’s magnificence at its finest display. Enthralling & tranquil. A great visit for nature lovers & bird watchers!
