Power of vulnerability…

Email: Is vulnerability great or a weakness? Mum thinks I’m weak (US)

“People who believe in their vulnerability are ‘whole-hearted’. Is whole-hearted another word for happy? No, our capacity for whole-heartedness can never be greater than our willingness to be broken-hearted.

It means engaging from a place of truthfulness, worthiness, little expectations. “I’m here and I’m going to love all of you fully”. No numbing of emotions or pretensions, feel free.

We can chose to be self-critical, judgmental, perfectionistic, competitive or embrace real creativity, joy, innocence, love, passion, playfulness and authenticity. Comfortable with who we truly are (good, bad, ugly), not who we’re expected to be. Believe we’re worthy and deserving of the best. It’s being genuinely alive!

We get tired of a few Ps – proving, pleasing, perfecting, pretending, performing. Vulnerable isn’t weak, rather an intuitive inner strength. It’s explicitly getting over fears of uncertainty or emotional exposure with self-love, faith and empathy.

There’s 3 shields to protect ourselves from vulnerability. Perfectionism (doing everything perfectly); Numbing (alcohol, drugs, sex, denial of emotions); Foreboding joy, a feeling of not being good enough. An illusionary mental dread that kills real happiness and growth.

Takes self-belief, trust, courage and tenacity to listen, awaken, drop shields to stand gloriously, humbly, abundantly in our naked truth.”

What makes us vulnerable, makes us uniquely beautiful, kind and compassionate.
