Innocence inspires…

Heard a very touching story of Matt, while volunteering at a local hospital.

He was admitted in a rehab centre for 3 years, severe alcohol addiction. A stoic, severe and intimidating person. A man of few words, athletic muscles, eyes as cold as ice.

While at rehab, he only read the Bible. Started to believe there was something more to life, much more than what we see. Felt a big void, seeking true love and harmony.

When discharged, visited his sister in hospital. Heard the cry of her newborn – a sound so committed, innocent, powerful, playful and pure it brought him to tears. Most naturally beautiful thing he’d ever seen or felt. Chaste, absolutely angelic eyes and smile.

An emotional outburst straight from his heart. Melted a hardened man with deprived senses due to no conversations, no music, no touch, no change of scenery. In a soulful wave of intuitive emotions, everything he knew himself to be before, instantly dissolved. Created colourful, magical spaces for something beautiful and new.

Felt his sensitivity and vulnerability in the wail of a crying newborn. The purity of life.

Holding the baby against his chest unburdened his mind and heart, conquered all negativity or self-doubt, restored his faith in beauty, surprises and richness of life.

Often we carry burdens of yesterday forward into today. Miss authentic, brilliant and novel experiences before us. The wail of a newborn sounds like a loud noise instead.

In all moments we can choose to operate from a state of preconditioned, habitual thought patterns or choose to freely feel, engage and flow with unexpected experiences our heart genuinely seeks or desires.

Living a true, passion-filled life brings the divine in mundane.

A precious picture of Matt and baby all cuddled up together brought me to tears, as well.
