Piano, was introduced as a beautiful instrument, my favourite.

Loosening of Church’s political control meant non-religious music could flourish, like instrumental music. An idea that instruments could be grouped together in a standard way, created first versions of modern orchestra.

Contrast (loud and soft tones) as a dramatic element, was introduced in compositions.

Concept of ‘melody‘ and ‘harmony‘ emerged beautifully.

Baroque era is known as the ‘age of the thorough bass‘.

Two greatest composers of concertos were Corelli and Vivaldi.

Opera composers devised ways of illustrating emotions and moods in music. Rameau, Handel and Purcell produced great musical works.

Bach, greatest genius in the history of music. He demonstrated a standard approach to harmony that dominated music till 19th century.

Have a music book with Bach’s original signatures. Precious.
