The West–Eastern Divan Orchestra is based in Seville (Spain). Musicians from countries in the Middle East, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria & Spain. Founded in 1999 by the legendary conductor Daniel Barenboim & academic Edward Said. Named after an anthology of poems by Goethe.

West-Eastern Divan Orchestra

Martha Argerich, pianist & a long-time performing partner of Barenboim is an honorary member of the orchestra. The aim of West–Eastern Divan Orchestra is to promote understanding between Israelis & Palestinians to pave the way for a peaceful solution to  Arab–Israeli conflict. Leverages the power of music as a universal, unifying force. A wonderful initiative.
