Río (Spanish)

The blog will pick a word of the week, to share & explore the selected word. Here’s an expression for the word – Río (Spanish).

A river begins somewhere beyond our knowing
Born from lakes and distant mountains
A small and delightful thing
That does not yet understand
The greatness of its journey.

Along its banks old trees lean closer
As though listening
For stories the water has carried
From the mountains, from the rain
From the hearts that once stood beside it.

Perhaps, the river knows
What we often forget
That beauty is not in arriving
But, in gently becoming
In giving ourself to the current
And still remaining our own.

And when the night falls
The river becomes a road of stars
Flowing softly into darkness
Teaching the earth that even in silence
A soul can keep moving.

Perhaps that is why we love the river.

It does promise rest and resilience
It does not ask the stones to follow
It simply flows, unafraid.

Leaving behind
A little music
A little reflection
And a precious reminder
That life was never meant
to be held still.

A river seems almost human
Beautiful because it is broken by light
Deep because it carries shadows
And alive because it never stays the same.

Perhaps, we are rivers too
Formed by hail, shaped by stones
Deepened by darkness
Brightened by the sun.

And somewhere within us
There remains a soulful current
That still knows the true way home.

Eventually, we will reach the ocean
Where every drop becomes
A part of something infinite.
