The blog will pick a word of the week, to share & explore the selected word. Here’s an expression for the word – Xin 心 (Chinese).

Seek not to be believed
Seek first to become believable
For Xin is not the praise of others
Nor the reputation they give
It is the quiet harmony
When our thoughts, emotions and deeds
Recognise one another as old friends.
Many seek the last word
The wise seek the true word
For the last word ends a conversation
The true word begins an understanding.
Many seek to hold more
The wise seek to need less
For the hand that clings cannot receive.
Many search for the answer
The wise becomes the answer
For wisdom is not found in what we know
But, in what we become.
Many wait for the right door
The wise become worthy
Of whatever door opens.
Many speak to be heard
The wise listen to understand
For noise fills the room
But, silence reveals the heart.
Many ask, what can I gain?
The wise ask, what can I give?
For what is taken belongs to time
What is given belongs to eternity
For the highest kindness leaves no signature.
Many wish for an easier road
The wise wish for stronger feet
For the road does not evolve
But, the traveler does.
Many chase the light
And forget the shadows behind them
The wise know a person is not measured
By the brightness they seek
But, by the darkness they refuse to carry.
Many travel to find a better place
The wise travel to become a better person
For the longest journey is not across the earth
But, within the self.
Such is the learning and beauty of Xin.
