Dance

The blog will pick a word of the week, to share & explore the selected word. Here’s an expression for the word – dance.

A ballerina lifts like dawn
Weightless as a whispered prayer
A folk dancer strikes the ground
As if roots are growing there.

The piano hums a fragile note
The wooden floor begins to wake
Again she turns, again she falls
Again she learns what effort takes.

She dances as rivers learn to bend
With patience carved by stone and years
Each movement carries hidden songs
Of longing, laughter, love and tears.

The earth keeps time beneath our heels
The moon leans low to watch us move
And for one bright, fleeting moment
Our spirit forgets it has to prove.

Some dances bloom in crowded streets
With clapping hands and fearless cheer
Some are born in quiet rooms
Where no one else is meant to hear.

The tango walks with sharpened pride
Two hearts colliding heel to heel
Kathak spins like sacred fire
Telling stories hands can feel.

Contemporary dance breaks apart
The rigid edges of the soul
Street dancers turn concrete earth
Into a stage that makes them whole.

Hip-hop cracks the evening open
Jazz blends music with velvet freeze
Flamenco burns in scarlet circles
Wild as deserts, fierce as the seas.

No matter where the rhythm lives
In grand theatres or subway lights
The dancer follows it like faith
Trusting movements through the night.

And when the music fades away
One truth still lingers in the chest
The body spoke what words could not
And in that sharing, found its rest.

To dance is to become the wind
Unlimited, spinning, undefined
To lose the borders of the self
And leave the heavy world behind.

For dance is love that needs no voice
A prayer without a single word
A conversation with the stars
Only believing souls have heard.

Somewhere between passion and motion
Between surrender and control
The spirit becomes more agile
It becomes a living soul.

And when the final bow is done
When silence fills the empty hall
The dance remains inside our heart
The truest home of all.
