Light is never only light
It leans on shadow
to reveal itself.
Every flame depends
on darkness
to be seen.
Day opens the world
night closes it
so, we may dream again.
We walk the edge
between inhale and exhale
where beginnings end
and endings begin.
The mirror does not lie
but it does reveal
what is seen
and what is seeing.
Even truth wears two faces
what is, what is meant to be
and what we believe it to be.
The universe breathes in opposites
matter and void, silence and sound
stillness and motion, calm and storm
and between them
an invisible sacred thread.
Call it balance, call it beauty
call it compassion, call it grace
the knowing that all things exist
because their shadows do.
All in perfect harmony.
