The blog will pick a word of the week, to share & explore the selected word. Here’s an expression for the word – storytelling. Storytelling is an interactive art, a cultural practice of sharing narratives in an oral, written or visual form, used for entertainment or cultural preservation, to convey messages or emotions. Storytelling is the most powerful way to put new ideas & innovations into our world.

Reading about memorable storytelling. We all crave connection, it’s what makes us human. One of the most powerful ways to connect with others is through storytelling, conveyed through spoken word, written text, film, music, theatre or dance. A good story resonates across time, cultures, gender, age or audiences, making people feel seen, understood & inspired. Inside each one of us is a natural born storyteller. Authors do not choose a story to write, the story chooses them!
What makes a good storyteller? We live in a network of incredible stories, all around us. While some of us naturally excel at telling stories, for others it takes practice. Whether through writing, presentation or social media, there are countless ways to tell a unique story. But, at its core, great storytelling is about creating precious moments that listeners can relate to, making them feel heard & engaged. Great storytellers possess intuitive clarity & simplicity in expression. Some of the best leaders have one thing in common – they are great storytellers. Through their own stories they build trust & influence.
A great storyteller brings high levels of enthusiasm, passion & energy, which captivates & invigorates. Their confidence is contagious, making the story more compelling & relatable. They effectively use their voice, body language or expressions to enhance their storytelling. They’re not just speakers but also attentive listeners, tuning into their audience’s reactions. Storytellers often pose intriguing questions, invite audience participation or tailor the story dynamically to align with the interests & sentiments of their listeners.
By showcasing characters who overcame adversity or individuals who have achieved great things, storytellers stimulate us to reflect on our own potential & personal journey. Authenticity is a hallmark of great storytellers. They whole-heartedly share their experiences & emotions, making themselves quite vulnerable. This vulnerability helps to humanise the storyteller, fostering a deeper connection & enhancing the emotional reach of the story.
They possess a creative, playful & spontaneous flair that allows them to invent or imagine stories in ways that are truly original. Creativity, compassion & empathy allows them to express the emotions of the characters in the story & connect compassionately. There is no greater power than a heart felt story. Stories are a beautiful gift to our world.
