Intelligence

The blog will pick a word of the week, to share & explore the selected word. Here’s an expression for the word – intelligence. Intelligence is the faculty of reasoning & understanding objectively, especially with regard to abstract matters. The capacity for rational thought. The ability to acquire, apply knowledge & skills.

“I know that I am intelligent, because I know that I know nothing” – Socrates. True intelligence lies in recognising the limits of one’s own knowledge & being open to continuous learning. “The real measure of intelligence is in our ability to adapt” – Einstein. This emphasises on the fluidity & flexibility required for intellectual discovery. Intelligence requires incredible imagination, creativity & innovation.

Our mind is capable of passing much beyond the dividing lines we have drawn for it. “The test of intelligence is our ability to hold two opposing ideas in the mind at the same time & still retain the ability to function” – Scott Fitzgerald. Intelligence is not measured by how much we know, but by how much capacity we have to learn, to stay curious.
