Ever since it was first performed in Leipzig’s main churches of St. Thomas & St. Nikolai, Bach’s 6 part musical masterpiece has become a cornerstone of the city’s identity & musical heritage.
The 1st part describes the birth of Jesus. The 2nd part is the annunciation to the shepherd’s. The 3rd part is the adoration of the shepherd’s. The 4th part is the naming of Jesus. The 5th part is the journey of the Magi. The 6th part is the adoration of the Magi. Incredibly beautiful & soulful. Glorious music.
