Tigers * 2…

Tigers are the largest species of big cats, one of the most incredible & iconic animals. Almost 100,000 tigers roamed around a century ago. By 2020, as few as 3,200 were left. We’ve lost 95% of our world’s wild tiger population to rampant poaching & habitat loss.

An ambitious & visionary conservation goal was set by the government’s of 13 tiger range countries – to double the number of wild tigers by 2025.

As the negative effects of climate change become apparent, our natural forests are increasingly important. They provide fresh water, clean air, regulate extreme weather like storms & offer a safe home for wildlife. Due to the high demand from illegal wildlife trade, tigers are extremely vulnerable to poaching. Driving compassionate momentum to ensure tiger awareness & conservation is a top priority for our world.

Professionalised wildlife protection is urgently required with focused community training, empowerment of rangers with equipment like smart tracking technologies with high quality surveillance cameras. Comprehensive national tiger surveys, relocating villages within forests & strict laws against poaching is the need of the hour.

Wild tiger numbers have increased for the 1st time globally, inspiring hope. In 2021, there were 3990 tigers in the wild. Nepal became the 1st country to achieve Zero Poaching. Way to go…
