Meet Giant Ibis…

Majestic, huge Giant Ibis (Thaumatibis gigantea) has been declared one of the most endangered, distinctive bird in the world. Native to marshes, wide rivers, ponds, seasonal water meadows of Cambodia with a few hiding in southern Laos & Vietnam. National Bird of Cambodia.

Stands a metre tall, 4 kgs. A dusty brown hue across plumage, exposed skin. Just over 100 breeding pairs left in the wild. Relentless de-forestation, droughts, hunting have contributed to it’s rapid decline.
