Plaid – San Francisco (US)

Pending acquisition by Visa, Plaid connects payment apps like Square Cash, personal finance apps to users bank accounts to transfer, track funds.

Software let’s businesses accept online payments with customers from small websites to Amazon, Facebook. Launched corporate credit card, small business loans, automatically repaid from payments it processes for borrowers.

Marqeta – California (US)

Debit card transaction processor gives companies that issue cards to workers, customers control over which transactions are approved. Grocery delivery Instacart uses Marqeta to control which items it’s order-fillers can buy, reduces fraud. Square uses Marqeta for fast-growing Cash App, consumers make retail purchases, transfer money, buy stocks.

Payoneer – New York (US)

Enables 3rd party sellers, hosts on market-places like Amazon, Walmart, Airbnb to accept payments in foreign currencies. Uses visibility into their sales to help assess risk.

Plastiq – San Francisco (US)

For 2.5% fee, let’s small businesses use credit card for expenses like rent, inventory, contractors for which cards usually aren’t accepted.

Toast – Boston (US)

Makes point-of-sale software for restaurants to handle payments, reservations, online ordering, payroll processing, loyalty programs. Launched small business loans.

Transferwise – London (UK)

Executes international money transfers for consumers at an average cost of just 0.7%, compared to 5% from U.S. banks, matches currency orders within country. Launched a debit card to allow fee-free purchases, ATM withdrawals around the world.
