Wombats are Australian marsupial mammals with short muscular legs, backward facing pouch to nurse the young in pouch while still digging burrows. Wombats feed on grasses, roots, herbs, roots, shrubs, barks, mosses. Live in long extensive burrow systems with powerful claws.
Wombats are nocturnal, slow movers but can run quickly if needed. Endangered Hairy-Nosed Wombat can grow to length of 75-100 cm, height of 25-35 cm, weigh up to 35 kg. Generally solitary creatures in complex tunnel systems.
