Wise on energy

Email: Feel quite burnt out. Can energy be used wisely? (Indonesia)

Occasionally, all of us feel the same way. Fatigued, numb. Nature is the best teacher in the realms of energy. From the geese flying in formations to schools of fish swimming in the ocean, our natural world shows an efficiency envied by scientists. More energy radiates  from the sun in just one hour than all the energy humans consume from all the sources in an entire year. Nature puts an enormous emphasis on efficiency. Each leaf on a tree is tuned down to the sub-atomic level to gather light in each pore. Cutting-edge technologies attempt to mimic this natural efficiency, from bullet trains to wind farms. The basic purpose of nature is to keep life flowing.

Our music is defined by four things – harmony, balance, rhythm, melody. Harmony isn’t resisting a given moment, rather adjusting with the flow. Migrating ducks caught in fierce head-winds land to wait for favourable conditions. Balance is striving for an equilibrium between energy coming in & going out. Ducks will stop, fill up on grain as exertion reserves on flight. Rhythm includes our daily, seasonal cycles to create alternating beats of strong activity & calm restoration. A bear facing snowy weather crawls into a den till spring. Melody is knowing ourselves, singing our own beautiful song.

Like birds we are in a delicate dance with nature, minimising energy loss with multiple techniques like meditation, mindfulness, yoga, nature breaks to perfectly tune into our natural core. It’s powerful to imagine what it’ll feel to live in a world where families, communities, work-places, cities are fully aligned with living efficiently, taking only what we need & sharing generously. We can naturally, continually & creatively invest in positive energy.
