Implicit minds…

Interesting debate with the team on the boundaries between deliberation & spontaneity. How can we improve our implicit minds? How can we deal with the unconscious influences like perceptions or biases. Sometimes, we’re spontaneously creative in ways we could not be, were we to deliberate too much. At times, impressive achievements happen without much apparent deliberation like athletic performances, creative arts or musical improvisations.

What can we do to increase the chances that our spontaneous inclinations get it right? What should we do when we discover our instincts? Are they mere reflexes? They embody huge intelligence or revelations. Quite tempted to think that one can simply reflect upon which spontaneous instinct to believe in & which to avoid. But in real-time, moment to moment when thoughts or actions unfold, is it plausible?

Then, how can we act on our insights or instincts while minimising the risk of doing something irrational? How can we enjoy the virtue of spontaneity, which is extremely valuable. In attempting to improve our implicit attitudes, our mental state needs constant re-training & enhancement of self-belief.
