Listening…

Listening. Learning the difference between hearing & listening. To listen requires an effort. Just to hear is no merit, a duck hears too! Stravinsky – it does not always follow that one is listening to what one hears! Just as music isn’t experienced by hearing but by engaging as a listener.

Listening doesn’t work involuntarily, the way hearing does. Active listening needs non-critical compassion & focused attention when listening to another or to our own inner voice. Listening brings incredible interpretations, innovations & perspectives. Above all, trust. Listening pre-supposes some sovereignty to think & act freely.

Listening to our own thoughts & emotions, amongst so much external noise, is equally important. Silence speaks volumes. Our intuition is our spiritual compass, our strength. Active listening fuels curiosity, creativity, learning & development. An absolute super power.
