Thinking colours. Different animals see colour in black, white or grey. Some don’t see colour at all. Birds, bees & butterflies see colours way up into the ultra-violet, polarised & infrared ranges. Humans are sadly, blind to these. Gecko eyes have evolved to be up to 350 times more sensitive to colour at night than ours. Mantis shrimp detects 10 times more colour than humans. Unfortunately, there are colours we can’t even see.
Our world is awash with a spectrum of bold, beautiful & bright colours. Yet, we all see colours differently, given the same light as input due to our varied visual systems & sensations. Is perceived colour relative or subjective? Each one of us sees a different colour when we look up at the sky. Unique shades magically appear under the natural or projected light.
I think, colour is in the eyes of the beholder, just like beauty. So adored with awe & wonder in nature. So admired as an attractive adornment or a tool for creativity. There is no substitute for sunset, serenity, stillness & silence with surreal shades of yellow, orange & red colour.
