Curious about the power of thought? Human thought is an amazing phenomenon. It’s given science, technology, literature, art & philosophy. Thought even has the power to create new realities & realms. Football clubs to satellites are all creations of the human mind. They exist simply because we thought them into existence!
Of course, our mind isn’t all sweetness & light. That makes the power of human thought even more puzzling. Just what is human thought, such that it produces both science & superstition, democracy & slavery?
Are thoughts little voices in our brain? Beliefs that represent or mis-represent the way our world is? Dreams that set forth in creative ways? Intentions that make us act imaginatively to actually change our world?
Beliefs, dreams & intentions are all created out of concepts or ideas. My belief that there’s chocolate in the fridge, my dream to build a chocolate factory, my intention to get the chocolate involves the concept or idea of chocolate! Maybe, we can understand the power of thought by thinking about the nature of concepts or ideas where our thoughts come from? Well, what the hell am I thinking?
