Matar poori…

A favourite winter dish. Just the right time to indulge in all seasonal goodness. A delicacy – green peas (matar), poori (bread).

Poori is stuffed with a filling of peas, ginger, spices like cumin, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder. Fried to perfection. Super crispy, crunchy dish for meals or snacks with a hot cup of masala tea.

  • Green peas crushed 1 cup

  • Wheat flour 1 1/2 cups

  • Refined flour 1/2 cup

  • Carom seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Oil for frying

1. Heat frying pan, saute peas till water evaporates

2. Add salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder

3. Mix well, remove from heat

4. Mix wheat, refined flour, carom seeds add salt, water to make a hard dough

5. Cover, set aside for 15 minutes

6. Divide dough into equal portions, shape into balls

7. Roll out each ball to a small disc, place a tablespoon of peas mix

8. Gather edges to make a ball, flatten it. Roll it lightly to make small poori’s

9. Heat oil, fry poori’s till golden, puffed

10. Drain, remove on absorbent paper, serve hot
