Mentoring…

A full day of unique mentoring with students at my college. Feel motivated. Interesting, intriguing learnings when I work with individuals just beginning careers, those seeking to broaden cultural, intellectual perspectives.

Unsure of guidance to offer, how to be effective with unfamiliar people? Need more cups of coffee to unleash imagination! Taking some time to honestly re-visit personal history, determine where seats of wisdom lie. Think, may have a wealth of professional knowledge that could benefit young people in my field. Weave work experiences into a creative guide-book with practical road maps, blue-prints?

Our achievements, failures take on new value when we utilise the wisdom we’ve gained to help others find, fulfil their purpose. Until we take on the role of a mentor, our experiences have limited value, as they’ve had little impact outside our own lives.

We expand spheres of influence by guiding others to seek passion, direction. Offers an opportunity to smoothen paths we once traveled, for ones traveling same paths at present. Find joy in knowing hurdles we once stumbled upon will not trip successors. Stimulation, inspiration we offer shows what our accomplishments are truly worth. Became a mentor because I really wanted to give. The thing I didn’t realise is how much I will get to learn.
