Lake District…

Reminiscing my last holiday to Lake District National Park (UK). Haweswater, Ullswater Valley, Windermere are the best places for wild-life. From species-rich hay meadows, mossy woodlands to windswept fells & crags, a delightful diversity of wildlife.

Tufty eared Red Squirrels, Pine Martins, Red Deer (UK’s largest land mammal with stags at 190 kgs), Martindale, Peregrine Falcons (fastest creature on planet, wings up to 150 cm). Famously dive, stoop at prey (pigeons, birds attaining speeds of 300 kmh). Rare, majestic Golden Eagles if lucky!

Up on the fells, the most conspicuous species is Skylark. Beautiful songs inspire poetry, music. Pied Flycatchers, Redstarts, Ospreys in the spring after an epic journey from Africa.

Charming county flower of Cumbria, Grass Of Parnassus is a beautiful white flower with delicately patterned petals. Appears in the summer as bright, wonderful wild-flowers.
