walking into Victoria’s Secret. Dim lights, fresh flowers fragrance. Shimmering, shocking pink radiating from walls, shopping bags. Enticing lingerie everywhere! Striped, wired, invisible, polka-dotted, push-up, t-shirt, racer-back, strapless, lace, silk. Endless styles to show off!

However, nothing special for women wearing sizes outside what’s considered ‘standard’. Standard = somewhat small. Staff strung a tape measure around my chest, smiled – ‘let me see if we have something?’. Back with 2 unattractive options. Wanted cute black laces! So frustrating, feel upset.

Major lingerie retailers usually showcase limited edition lingerie in standard B-D ranges. Anyone outside the basics, ‘bigger or smaller’ is plum out of luck. But why? How hard can it possibly be to design in a variety of sizes? Turns out, pretty hard. Though, they’re happy to sell padded bra’s, crazy expensive, silly accessories to artificially boost bust line appearances? No appreciation of natural gifts!

Sizing is an inexact science in any form. Most clothing was custom-made earlier. Particularly problematic when we can technically fit into several sizes. Confusing sizing systems, standardisations are unhelpful. Supposedly cost effective, economies of scale. Thank God for fabulous online shopping from the US, UK. A major online shopping addict.
