Recently realised taking time to reclaim creativity has incredible advantages. As kids, we entertained fantasies, goals of being actors, singers, dancers, musicians. Often, received enough encouragement to nurture creative curiosity. But, somewhere along the way we stopped. Mainly due to events beyond control, unconscious acts of self sabotage.
Being creative is quite scary in a world that sometimes values logic more than imagination, practicality more than dreaming. We can forgive selves for turning attention away from instinctive, innocent, inner artists. Happily take steps to dream again. Out of limitations comes creativity. Indulgence in inquisitiveness.
Developing creativity is important to be well-rounded humans. An ability to perceive in new ways, find hidden patterns, make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, generate surprising solutions.
Remembering a few lost forms of expressions like writing poems, making anklets with colourful beads. Brain throws up illusionary obstacles. Ideas like ‘why waste time, too old, not good’. Instead, feel gratitude for our gifts.
The truth, it’s never too late to pick up a pen, make a doodle. Never too late to turn beads into jewellery. Challenges arise from a place of fear, but a creative sword has a clear edge. Each natural piece of work takes us deeper into realms of beauty, mystery, passion. A realm we have every right to return to, reclaim. Everything we can imagine is real.
