Worked up…

Email: Get quite worked up, often very nervous. (US)

Quite natural for all. Me too, work on it! But, at our core somehow know we’re stronger, more capable than believe selves to be! Our calm capacity, compassion to cope successfully with life’s challenges far outstrips nervousness. Tension brings resistance to life, assaults our senses.

Yet in weeks, days leading up to events believed to test our limits, become nervous. Even though we regarded selves as equal to trials ahead, reach a point when fears begin to mount. Increasingly worked up until anticipated experiences happen. Then, in a flash discover worries were unnecessary. Fascinating! Fears aren’t rational in nature. In most cases, we can’t tackle fears with pure logic as the only tool. Reason helps recognise relative futility of unwarranted patterns of thoughts though. Focus on what’s truly important in life. Builds endurance, enthusiasm.

It’s remarkably difficult to focus on 2 distinct thoughts, emotions at once. Can use this natural human limitation to advantage to stay centred, energetic in moments leading to incredible scenarios. Good to concentrate on stuff unrelated to worry – visualisations of success, embracing flaws, adventurous pursuits, fitness goals, following passions, spontaneous fun, unwinding activities, gratitude to shed negativity naturally. Gracefully grounds selves fully in the moment, dissipates ego.

Intense emotions flare before facing challenges, setting high intentions. A mixture of excitement and fear. Taking soft, sensitive steps to dissolve toxicity enables greater enjoyment of joy, passion. Isn’t easy to avoid getting worked up, surely will. But, a honest awareness of forces affecting emotions is essential. Stimulates positive energy, awakens inner strength, humour to overcome obstacles, achieve highest potential.
