Work cultures are built on constant, complex team interactions. Each kind of challenge is supposed to be solved only by collaboration or team’s brainstorming. Everyone just thinks aloud. It’s exhausting for introverts. Would it be better if each team member silently writes their ideas on sticky notes or offers cues. Then, teams can collectively discover a bounty of novel concepts. It still keeps teams engaged while providing a quiet, focused time for constructive thoughts. Maybe, smaller team compositions can encourage quieter voices.
Instead of asking people to commit to crowded long sessions, it may be better to reserve spaces where individuals contribute innovative opinions in-between meetings, lunch-times? Limits the number of gregarious voices at one time. Makes positive participation easier. Perhaps, introduce ‘a question, a day’ in advance to give people the time to think creatively.
How do we create considerate conditions, emphatetic collaborations in our work environment that helps introverts feel comfortable & creative?
