Online professional self-assessment (one of many):
Q: How ‘ambitious‘ are you, scale of 0-10? Definition of ‘ambition‘ as aggressive focus on role specifications, career enhancements, high performance, competitive drive.
Hmm, honestly 2, maybe 3? Flash back on work-life – jobs, expectations, achievements. Largely roles allocated were somehow ‘greenfield‘ in strategy, alliances, products, marketing. Newly created teams with no clear definitions, scopes, requirements, plans. Motivated to start something from a scratch, blank slates, play-grounds of possibilities!
What did I really want from work? Curious challenge of learning opportunities, stimulated knowledge sharing, inspiring interactions with diverse sets of smart people, creative out of box thinking. A sense of adventure, simple, secure achievements. Above all – a recognisable identity, self-worth beyond family name. Remember crazy chats with Dad, wasn’t keen I work. So different now!
Career simply seemed to happen. Fated flows with jobs. Equally happy sitting at home, by a lake-side, in a garden, in the kitchen working on creative projects! An office desk, job-title isn’t a pre-requisite. Just something exciting, encouraging to explore, execute. A fun project or two!
