Email: Are you a ‘strict’ parent, style? (India)
Unsure of ‘strict’ context. Each parent has a unique style, approach.
Prefer a patient, playful style. Girls feel free to curiously explore, express individuality, emotions, creativity. No expectations of specific outcomes (top grades etc). Realise value, grew up in very protected environments, huge expectations.
Kids should feel comfortable expressing vulnerable selves, sharing sensitive situations. Unafraid of making mistakes, no judgements. A great way to learn, grow humbly, calmly, confidently, respectfully.
I try to leverage inspiring examples, fun story-telling to encourage them find their spark, sparkle. ‘Adventures of Princess Po-Po, dog Mojo’! A life message in each story which kids have to guess (generosity, compassion etc). Practical tips like budget management. Kids decide pocket money allocations in 3 distinct categories – spend, save, give!
One’s extroverted, analytical, structured. Other’s introverted, emotional, creative. Just inseparable, celebrate each moment together! Just want them to be best versions of selves, make a difference, truly happy. Adorable!
