Significance of #3, the magic number?
In Christianity, #3 symbolises Holy Trinity – father, son, holy spirit (creator, redeemer, sustainer). Divine wholeness. 3 attributes of God – omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence. #3 denotes perfection, completion, completeness. 3 main patriarchs in Old Testament – Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. Jesus was resurrected 3 days after crucification.
Similarly, in Hinduism there’s 3 sources of infinity – creator (Brahma), preserver (Vishnu), destroyer (Shiva) – circle of life. 3 phases of moon (crescent, half, full). Universe – earth, sea, sky. 3 is creativity, purpose, inspiration.
Taoists believe in Great Triad – heaven, human, earth. Buddhists profess ‘Three Jewels’ – Buddha (enlightened), Dhamma (teachings), Sangha (followers).
Phases of life happen in 3’s – past, present, future. Birth, life, death. We are body, mind, spirit. Water, air, fire. Man, woman, child. Combination of intent, word, action is the sum of our abilities.
Chinese believe #3 is a perfect number. To Mayans, #3 stands for sacred woman. Egyptians see #3 as holy number of cosmos. Japanese 3 treasures – truth, courage, compassion.
Pythagorean 3 means completion. 3 primary colours – red, blue, yellow. 3 sources in nature – infinite wisdom, infinite love, infinite freedom.
