Music to die for…

Music brings romanticism, reflections, rest, countless emotions! But is it possible it also brings death? Instances when iconic pieces of music contributed to composer’s death!

Bedřich Smetana was working on his final opera, Viola when he died in 1884. He wrote to Czech poet Jan Neruda in 1879 saying ‘he’s afraid he’s going mad’.

Tchaikovsky’s died in 1893, right after his final Symphony Pathetique. Conducted the symphony’s premier 9 days before his death. His ‘musical suicide note’.

Mahler didn’t live to finish his 10th SymphonyHis last words were: “Mozart! Mozart!”
