Email: Dating a guy for 7 years, unsure of future. What to do? (Korea)
Not a dating expert, at all. However, some common sense observations. Whilst initial stages of dating is explorative – figuring out mutual compatibility, overall chemistry, shared beliefs, goals, desires, at some point one must be clear of the value, purpose, priorities, destination. End of ‘exploration timeline’ can be mutually agreed or have clarity in the dating model, right from the start.
There are 2 options:
- Best way to end confusion, fears, doubts, obstacles is honest, non-judgemental, gentle conversations, genuine self-expressions to know each others expectations, needs, perspectives. Now, there’re many reasons to date – flings, benefit friends, commitments, other labels. Find mutual comfort, align with practical requirements.
- Continue to love without conditions. All of us have expectations, but don’t link love to fulfilment of specific outcomes. Keep the faith in destiny, go with the flow.
Take responsibility for self, be clear on what both want, make choices based on a blend of logic / intuition that’ll make you happy, secure, inspired, assured. Hopefully, everything will work out just fine.
