Email: Is it wrong to have opinions? (HK)
Judgement closes us down, makes us think that our version of the truth is the only truth, whereas opinion leaves us open-hearted, humble, curious to new perspectives & ideas. Mostly, when we judge others, it’s a negative emotional experience. It’s important to distinguish our inner guidance, having an opinion or making a judgment, otherwise we run the risk of not listening.
Inner guidance, opinions both help us interact more intelligently, inspirationally. Our intuitions always appears in flashes. Often has a physical component – a fluttery stomach, sweaty palms, chills, any new sensations!
When we use fresh insights to navigate a situation, we always benefit without prejudice. Similarly, having an opinion allows us to converse with focused intention. Listening to our intuitive, mental abilities to form opinions is great. A fair, positive interpretation of wisdom, insights that comes our way.
When we make judgments, we attempt to have a final say on whether something is inherently good or bad. Judgments close instead of opening us up.
Opinions have a lighter quality, amenable, flexible, solution oriented, invites debate. Once a judgment has been made, there isn’t much scope.
Intuition guides from moment to moment, unlike judgment it never makes a final decree. It’s healthy to be open to universal knowledge, experiences.
As long as we stay fluid with balanced discernment, we’re on the right track.
